It is half-term Family Fun Day at Lyme Regis Museum on Wednesday, June 6, when dinosaurs and mythological creatures will fill every spare space – because anything is possible with card and collage!

Make your own dragon or dinosaur, pegasus or phoenix, to take and put on display at home. Free admission for adults and children and free art materials. No need to book, just drop into the museum any time between 11am and 3pm and get creative with local artist Alison Bowskill.

Fossil experts Paddy Howe and Chris Andrew will be conducting their famous fossil hunting walks all week: on Wednesday June 6 at noon, Thursday June 7 at 12.45pm, Friday June 8 at 1.30pm and Saturday June 9 at 2pm. Join them to find your own 190-million-year-old fossil.

For adults and children alike, it’s an unforgettable experience. Walks last around 3 hours. To book a place telephone 01297 443370 or email walks@lymeregismuseum.co.uk. Adults £10; children and students £5 includes free admission to the museum.

On Saturday, June 9, Lyme Regis Museum celebrates the town’s most famous fossil hunter with a Mary Anning Walk. Join guide Natalie Manifold and explore the paths and streets of Old Lyme as Mary knew them, and learn about the life of the ‘greatest fossil hunter ever known’. The walk leaves the museum at 1.30pm and takes about one-and-a-half hours. To book a place telephone 01297 443370 or email walks@lymeregismuseum.co.uk Adults £6; children/students £3 includes free admission to the museum.

The museum’s fossil experts Paddy Howe and Chris Andrew invite you to ‘Know Your Fossils’ on Sunday, June 10, at 2.30pm. This is a fossil masterclass for the whole family with lots of real specimens to handle, and tips on how to find and identify your own. They would especially like you to bring along your own fossil discoveries for identification. It lasts around an hour – no booking needed. No extra charge, just normal admission price to the museum: adults £3.95; seniors £3.45 (tickets are valid for a year, unlimited number of visits); children and students always free.
