The Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple hosts the national premiere of Swansea City Opera’s production of Don Pasquale.
THE premiere of Swansea City Opera’s version of Donizetti’s uproarious comic opera, Don Pasquale opens its national run at The Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple on Saturday, March 2.
The production is staged in English with elegant 1840s costumes and includes some of Donizetti’s most beautiful music, promising an enchanting and hilarious evening of entertainment.
One of Donizetti’s funniest operas with a typically comical complicated plot, it tells the story of a silly old man named Don Pasquale and his bid to marry to cut off his rebellious nephew.
Twists, turns, tricks, family plots and an ever dwindling pile of money lead the luckless Don into a comedy of errors of epic proportions.
The show starts at 7.30pm and there is a pre-show performance talk by the artistic director of Swansea City Opera, Brendan Wheatley (admission £3).
