North Devon’s iFunk adds a catchy song to the 29 second clip that will showcase Barnstaple’s Christmas on ITV.

NORTH Devon band iFunk has recorded a new song as the soundtrack for Barnstaple’s Christmas television advertising campaign.

The adverts commissioned by BID Barnstaple continue its seasonal TV ad promotion which began in the spring to attract visitors to the town.

This time organisers chose iFunk for the music because they wanted a happy, funky pop feel to the 29 second advert, which will air on ITV from Monday and in the run up to Christmas.

The band chose BID Barnstaple’s ‘It’s a must’ theme and close the advert with the line ‘It’s a must this Christmas’.

“Writing for an advert is very time-limited because the whole ad has to be 29 seconds long,” said band member Richard Fay.

“We agreed a tempo with them and so it all became quite technical in terms of fitting what we had to write to the visuals of the advert.

“Then the band got together in my home studio and wrote about a dozen different ideas, which we evolved until we had four demos that we really liked.

We then played these to the advertising company and BID Barnstaple and they picked the one they liked the most - which was our favourite too, so we were happy all round!”
