Youth cup ties move in to a third weekend

Just three more of the Exeter and District Youth league cup ties were completed last Saturday leaving 38 of the 48 2nd Round ties across six age groups still to be played.

The fact that this round of the cup is going to take, at the very least, three weeks to complete, has a tremendous knock-on effect with the league games, already facing behind owing to wet pitches.

The Under-16 competition has not seen a ball kicked in anger on either of the last two Saturdays so League administrators will be hoping the weather break this weekend to allow the matches to finally be played.

The quarter final ties are scheduled to be played on the third Saturday of February, so another wholesale round of postponement this weekend would create a real problem for clubs both involved and already out of the competition.
