Mark Batey hit 63 as Uplyme closed on 171-9. The Mid Devon side then replied with 125-8 to bring an end to an outstanding run of success for Ashley Caddy’s team.

The draw, coupled with a defeat for nearest challengers Bridestowe, extended the Uplyme lead at the top of the E Division table to one of 24 points.

On Saturday they travel to Bridestowe where a win would leave them comfortably clear of the field at the half way stage of the season.

Uplyme 2nds were saved by the rain in their game at North Devon III.

Maurice Blackmore (21no) and 13-year-old Reece Davies (10) put on 24 for the ninth wicket to help their side limp to 87 all out.

The hosts were 30 without loss when the rain arrived to wash out play.

On Saturday Uplyme and Lyme Regis II complete the first half of their season with a home game against Whimple II.
