Tom turns the tables

Tom Synnott changed positions and changed the game for Clovelly at home to Barnstaple AAC Reserves.
Normally a left back, Tom was switched to left wing and not only scored his first goal of the season, but filled his boots with a hat-trick to bring Clovelly back from 2-0 down to a 3-2 victory.
But there was no coming back on Sunday as Clovelly were knocked out of the Hansen Cup 9-3 at the hands of Torridgeside Reserves.
Roger Payne and Jethro Kimber hit three apiece for Torridgeside and their others came from Marc Bettis, Simon Grigg and 16-year-old Henry Dalberti. Clovelly replied through Sam Synnott (2) and Ian Chan.
Divisional leaders Ilfracombe Town Thirds tucked another win under their belts with a 5-1 result at home to Torrington Reserves. Steve Burns and Tom Goldsworthy hit two goals each and Damon Reed scored the other.
Second placed Braunton Thirds also came out on top in their club’s second clash of the weekend with Northam Lions, winning 4-1 away to the Lions Reserves.
There was only one goal in it at half-time, but Braunton put it together in the second period to win through with goals by Dan Nott (2), Peter Stapley and Luke Oliver, while Alistair Bright netted for the Lions.
Anchor Chiefs were 5-0 winners at home to High Bickington with two well taken goals and a back post cross that beat everyone to give Darren Reeks his hat-trick, a Marcus Jarvis header and Joe Barker low drilled strike.
Woolacombe and Mortehoe ran out 4-0 winners away to Equalizers.
Dan Wright (2), Chay Isaac and Adam Baxter were the scorers, but they also had a solid defence to thank for their victory. Centre back Clem Bennellick was named man-of-the-match.
Equalizers came back with a 5-3 win over High Bickington in the Braunton Cup on Sunday with 2 goals apiece from Damian Green and Phil Norman and one from Sam Ashton.
Landkey youngsters made their mark in a 5-2 win away to Sporting Barum.
Dan Tolman, 17, scored twice and Chad Luxton, 16, had a hand in the making of two more. Steve Folland, Dan Hommell and Lee Kerswell were the other Landkey scorers.
