Imperial Cavalier will compete only in the dressage but, if all is well with him, King could bid for the British Open title on King’s Temptress.

She also contests the British Open Novice title with Cavalier Venture and daughter Emily will compete in the British Intermediate Open on Mr Hi Ho - the competition held over an advanced course, the teenager’s first attempt at that level.

This week, King won the novice class at Nutwell Horse Trials (at Bicton) on Tuesday, with Emily coming fourth in the BE100 on Miss Indigo, fifth in the open novice on Apache Sauce, and having a double clear on Charlemagne in the other BE100 section..

●Mary King and groom Jodie Rorke will head up to Leicestershire on Tuesday for their Team GB kitting out.

Nicola Wilson is now the team pathfinder on Opposition Buzz after ‘Piggy’ French’s second horse, DHI Topper, was ruled out through injury at Barbury last weekend.
