Archant

The Terror Pins have a total of 12 members of which two were already unavailable, but the selection problem increased further following two accidents and a hospital investigation, forcing them to field a team of only seven for this home game against Alyesbeare, writes SpursTom.

Hope therefore, of bouncing back from that massive defeat at the hands of Floppers was severely hit, and two players not expecting to play were thrust into action possibly not at their best.

It showed as the hosts lost seven of the eight legs by a margins of seven, two, 17, two, four, seven and eight, their only success coming in the seventh leg with a 13 pins margin.

For some reason or another, the Terror Pins seem to be cursed this season with the unwanted sunshine, it struck in the third leg, the latest victim being Sue Gatter.

Perhaps the unluckiest participant on the night for the hosts was David Hicks, though he once again improved his personal best to 61, he was pipped from being home player of the night on the very last throw of the match by Chris Gatter knocking down a brace of pins.

The teams’ final scores were Terror Pins 420 (Chris Gatter 62), Aylesbeare 452 (Heather Solman 68). It is now seven wins and seven defeats for the Budleigh Salterton outfit.
