Exmouth Town 2, Budleigh Salterton 2

Budleigh saw a two goal half-time lead evaporate before they settled for a share of the spoils in a compelling Good Friday derby at Southern Road. Anthony Osborne and Jack Greenslade had put the Robins in the box seat before the home team’s second half fight-back.

Budleigh had gone into the derby game without a win since a March 10th success at Ottery St Mary.

Their run of three without success was marginally better than the Exmouth Town sequence of four without a win prior to the game.

Town then lost at Galmpton United on Easter Monday to take their winless streak to six matches.

Budleigh have won just four times on their Peninsula League travels this season, at Ottery St Mary, Axminster Town, University and Appledore.

The Robins complete their league season with matches on each of the next three Saturday’s.

This weekend they host Alphington and go into the game sitting 11th with 38 points. With three to play a top half finish is now beyond the Greenway Lane men.

Their final away game is at Newton Abbot Spurs before they entertain Crediton United to complete their campaign on Saturday April 28.
