Ritchie and Wall excel in Stableford

12:40 22 January 2013

The club Tuesday Mixed competitions are going from strength to strength, with 32 players this week including three new members - Janet and David Hughes and Margaret Black who were welcomed by the organisers, writes Andy Wagner.

The format was four clubs and a putter Stableford. The winners, with 36pts, were Sue Ritchie and Phil Wall.

Second placed with 34pts on c/b were Margaret Black and this year’s seniors’ captain Bob Underwood. Third, also on 34pts on c/b, were Di Wall and Paul Ritchie ahead of Sue and Paul Witton, 34pts.

Ladies’ Section - The ground was definitely crisp and white though not necessarily even on Wednesday for the Ladies NQ Stableford competition.

But, in spite of temporary greens, several ladies turned in very respectable scores.Tricia Swindell continued her winning streak and had a well earned win in the Silver Division with 37 points, followed closely by Mona Carter who also mastered the unusually frosty conditions and came in second with 36 points.

In Bronze 1 Division, Catherine Doherty came out tops with 33 points, while Lesley Oxenham was second with 32 points (c/b). Bronze 2 Division winner was Susan Hyde with 28 points, while second and third places were decided on c/b with Di Wall pipping Maureen Tollemarche to the post, both on 27 points.
