St Martins 1, Woodbury 1
The opening quarter of the match was an even affair as both sides battled conditions which had left the playing surface resembling a ploughed field!
The home side opened the scoring from a penalty, tucked away by their keeper after Woodbury’s Matt Tidmarsh had felled a player in the box.
It was not until a 53rd minute double substitution that the Woods began to exercise some dominance on proceedings.
Brett Gloyn and Will Bennett where introduced and this had an immediate effect with Woodbury quickly finding a new tempo.
Gloyn was quickly into the action down the right wing and from one raid Kev Pitt was unlucky with a chipped effort and the a succession of corners followed with the Saints goal leading a charmed life!
Pitt was not to be denied though and eventually the pressure paid off as he applied a tidy finish to level things up.
Despite then peppering the Saints goal they could not find a winner and the game ended with honours even.
Rhys Perry was named Man of the Match for a superb shift at right back whilst Brett Gloyn ran him close for the top honour after his impressive introduction to the game.
Woodbury are hoping to play a friendly match against Colaton Raleigh at the Archery Club this Saturday (3pm) as both side’s are wanting to stay match fit with Seaton Cup finals to contest later this month.
