Putford Reserves stay on top of Intermediate Two following a hard-won 2-0 victory at home to Anchor Chiefs Reserves.
It was an evenly matched encounter, but Putford maintained their winning ways with a goal in each half from Bradley Prouse and an own goal.
Chiefs were happy with a good team performance, but just could not convert their chances. There were debuts for Tyler Pilkington, Andrew Spence, Martin Stewart and off the bench for new signings Tom Phipps and Phil Roberts.
Pilton Academicals Reserves won a close game at home to Buckland Brewer 2-1.
Neither team created any clear cut chances in the first half,
Pilton broke the deadlock soon after the restart when Buckland keeper Joe Ogijewicz saved a well placed header, but could only parry for Pilton’s Anthony Higgs to fire home. The home side then doubled their lead when poor defending gave Paul Mitchell a headed opportunity.
Buckland pressed and were soon rewarded when a Simon Adams shot was saved, only to come out to Aiden Clarke to fire home. With 20 minutes remaining they pushed for an equaliser, but an Arran Brookes effort came back off the woodwork and the Pilton keeper pulled off a fine save to deny them.
