MORE than 800 children from 29 North Devon schools descended with teachers, parents and supporters on Kingsley School, Bideford, last Friday for its annual Millennium Cross Country event.

This record entry of youngsters, aged between seven and 13, took part in six competitive age and gender races, with some very close finishes.

Overall there was a community carnival atmosphere, enjoyed by all and every one of the 806 finishers received a medal.
