A number of games were cancelled this week for various reasons, however, the Grace Mathews Top Club was played in monsoon like conditions, writes Mary Ann Dowrick.

Fortunately for Madeira, they won overall against Honiton, by one shot on the last end of the game.

Each year, Sidmouth invites one rink of Madeira ladies to participate in the Spear Trophy match.

This year, Madeira took the honours with their win by Skip Sandy Cox with Jean Rainton, Ann Bellamy and Jill Perrin.

In other county news, Jenny Smith and partner Jean Phillips won their over 55 Pairs against Julie Grant and Linda Dommett.

The game was tight and the winner determined on the last end.

Liz Smerdon, Jan Roberts and Liz Healy were part of the Johns Trophy team and assisted in the convincing victory over Dorset.

Another great win for the Devon.
