The Seniors Singles and round 3 of the Seniors Centenary Salver was due to be played on the final Monday of April, but due to appalling weather conditions the course was closed and the fixture has been postponed to Monday, May 21, writes Paul Willoughby.

However, last Wednesday (May 2) a field of 87 enjoyed warm and sunny conditions for the Veterans Cup.

The winner with an outstanding score of 43 points was Ron Jefford - a welcome return to form after an early period of poor health.

In second place was Norman Forte (42 pts) with Charlie Kerslake (38), Barry Gates (38) and Keith Ward (38), taking third, fourth and fifth places.

There were six players who shared a pot of £80 led by Ian Wilson who had 2 two’s on the 4th and 13th.

The others to benefit were; Mike Wall (4th), George Rogers (13th), Bill Coles (13th), John Maidment (13th) and Roger Maunder (13th).

Denis Law landed a two on the 4th, but had not entered the two’s competition.
