This week is Devon Golf Week (running from April 9 to 15).
It is a national campaign to inspire people of all ages to take up golf.
During the week various offers give all-comers the chance to try out the sport at free taster sessions held at 25 clubs and driving ranges across the county. They’ll also receive information about follow-on opportunities.
Get into golf is run by the England Golf Partnership (EGP) through its network of County Golf Partnerships. Together, they work to grow the game and to achieve the EGP’s vision of making England the world’s leading golf nation by 2020.
A new-look website and a free information hotline offer details of taster and beginner coaching opportunities for all in England: www.getintogolf.org or 0800 118 2766. Devon events are also listed on the County Golf Partnership website www.devongolfpartnership.org.uk
Last year the partnership attracted over 700 people to Golf Week events and they’re aiming to beat that in 2012. Activities all take place in the week immediately after The Masters – the first Major of the season – and interest in the game will be high.
Devon Golf Week is part of a regional initiative, involving five other South West counties, and it supports the national Get into golf campaign.
