Exmouth Town’s unrelenting march towards the South West Peninsula League Eastern Division title continued with a 7-1 victory over Crediton United at Southern Road, writes Steve Birley.
Town remain unbeaten in their 13-game league campaign to date.
Richard Pears men reach the half way stage of their campaign this coming Saturday (February 2) when they travel to bottom of the table Sidmouth Town.
Since taking on the hot seat last year Pears has transformed the team bringing in sufficient quality to enable to side to field a team, and substitutes bench, that would surely grace most of the other Eastern Division sides!
They have opened up a five point lead over neighbours Budleigh Salterton who have played four games more.
Just two teams, sixth placed Stoke Gabriel and sixth from bottom Okehampton Argyle, have played fewer this term.
If Stoke Gabriel win their two games in hand they’d be seven shy of Town.
A glance at the remaining fixtures suggests 70 points will be enoughfor whoever finishes top.
If that were to be the case then Town are currently 32 points short of that with 48 to play for.
