Exmouth Town’s wonderful season got even better on Wednesday night when they beat Stoke Gabriel 3-1 at Southern Road.
Not only did the victory bank the club £600, it also gave them a place in the semi-finals of the Throgmorton Cup where they will now face Premier Division outfit Elburton Villa on a date and at a neutral venue to be announced in the coming days.
Richard Pears’ side remain on course for what would be a historic season’s treble as they are sitting pretty at the top of the Eastern Division table and they have another semi-final meeting with Stoke Gabriel in late March, this time for a place in the final of the Graddon Vending Devon Premier Cup.
Join us on the Journal website later on Thursday evening when we will bring you the reaction to another glorious night at Southern Road.
The other Throgmorton Cup semi-final will be between Bodmin Town and Helston Athletic which leaves open the chance of Richard Pears possibly coming face to face with a Bodmin side that has Kevin Miller in their goal. Miller was a top play at Exeter City when Richard Pears was there as an apprentice in the early 1990’s.
Next up for Town is Saturday’s league trip to Plymstock United, a game we will preview here on the Journal website on Friday.
