The past season has been the first since leagues began that three Barnstaple Colts rugby players have been part of the club’s 1st XV squad.
The achievements of the Colts were rewarded at their presentation evening, with club coaches voting for the award winners.
Winners were: Most improved player of the year, Matthew Phillips; players’ player of the year, Peter Keighley; Steven Ettery Award for commitment to training and playing for the team, Calum Sumners; first year player of the year, Scott Warren; manager’s player of the year, Matt Gohl.
Individual achievements during the year have included: Linford Brock - 1st XV league rugby, England Clubs and Schools Under 18s, Devon Under 18s; Alex Priest - 1st XV league rugby, England Colleges; Matt Gohl - 1st XV league rugby. Ben Vellacott - Scotland Under 17s cap, Devon Under 18s & Unders 17s; Scott Warren, Calum Sumners and Laurence May - Devon Under 17s.
