Budleigh recorded their most emphatic success of the season with a performance and result that belied their topsy-turvy home form this season, writes Alan Beer.

The opening 20 minutes saw the visitors having the best scoring opportunities.

On 10 minutes Alex Bayliss hit the angle of post and bar before, on 17 minutes, Liam Ford should have done much better when he shot wide from close range.

The Robins had their first effort on 25 minutes. Player-boss Danny Williams set up George Pannell who fired home from 18-yards to open the scoring.

Five minutes later Mark Lever had a shot well saved by Matt Congdon in the visitor’s goal. A minute before the break Williams rounded Congdon only to see his shot bounce back off the post.

It took Williams just five minutes of the second period to make amends. Jack Greenslade worked his way through the Galmpton defence before crossing to the near post where Williams touched in.

This was followed six minutes later by Mike Hancock putting the finishing touch to a Williams’s free kick.

The visitors were reduced to 10-men and the Robins began to find plenty of spaces.

Lever positioned himself at the far post twice to add numbers four and five.

In the final minute Sam Schlaefli had a fierce shot from 18-yards parried by Congdon only to fall to Williams who made no mistake from close range.

Budleigh team: Pullin, Hancock, Ellis, Pallett, Nield, Pannell (Turner), Lever (Schlaefli), Grover, Williams, Greenslade (Wright).

The victory keeps the Robins very much in the race for a top three finish.

This Saturday they travel to second bottom Crediton United where they will seek to record an eighth away victory in the league against a side who, to date, have bagged just a lone home success this term.
