Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club’s highly successful colts academy is about to begin a new season.
Prior to the first of the regular weekly sessions there is a Signing On and Registration Evening being held at the Club tomorrow (Friday) from 6pm.
Thereafter, Friday evening’s (6pm–8pm) will see the academy run at the Club’s Ottermouth ground home with the first session on Friday, April 20.
This season the club are entering teams in the East Devon Youth League at the following age groups; Under-10 and 11, Under-11 (hard ball), Under-12, Under-15 and Under-17.
In addition to these teams, there will also be a colts academy team entered into the popular Budleigh Community Cricket League.
All of the teams benefit from coaching undertaken from ECB Level One and Two qualified coaches.
Colts membership is only £25 which includes match fees and Friday coaching sessions.
As in previous years, the club plans to also run cricket coaching clinics throughout the summer holidays.
The colt’s academy is fortunate to have the support and sponsorship from South West Communications Group who’s other main sporting interaction includes Exeter Chiefs Rugby.
The clubs Premier Division side will include a number of players who have come through this academy programme.
Club Secretary Kevin Curran says: “The Club’s main commitment to colts cricket is fully indorsed by the ECB, who have recently congratulated us on achieving “ClubMark” accreditation right though to 2014. We are continuing our efforts to towards having a new colts pitch at Ottermouth to add to the already fantastic facilities that our members are able to enjoy.”
