Veterans Christmas competition: Simon Jenkins won the first Christmas competition with 38 points from Mike Elliott with 37 and Dave Birch on 34. There were only 22 entries due to the appalling weather.

Veterans Thorne Cup: Jenkins went on to secure another victory in the Thorne Cup with 34 points, pipping Alick Welton on the back nine holes. Peter Brummitt came third with 32 points. There were 46 entries.


Turkey Trot: Div 1 – 1, Graham Sydenham (16) 37pts; 2, Mike McManus (12 ) 34; 3, Neil Reed (11) 34. Div 2 – 1, Kevin Robson (20) 44; 2, Kevin Parish (26) 40; 3, Dan Varley (23) 38. Ladies – 1, Jackie Carlton (25) 35; 2, Jane Sugar (27) 33; 3, Ruth McMeechan (20) 30. Juniors – 1, Mark Peters (7) 37; 2, Tom Poole (19) 37; 3, James Poole (7) 36.


The Captain’s Drive: This went with a swing, with club captain Jeff Paul, lady captain Gwen Adams, vets captain Alan Saunders and junior captain Adam Isaac all making respectable tee shots. Eric Lake, Bob Davies, Richard Greenhalgh and Bob Gelder all managed to predict where the various captains’ tee shots would land. The 4BBB competition that followed was won by Carol Rockey, Jan Bostock, Geoff Young and Tania Wickham with 100 points. Second were Bob Gelder, Ken Watson, Les Elender and Albert Taylor 99pts and third Andy Crossland, Rob Metherell, Paddy Ford and Mike Daniel 99pts.
