Woman arrested for Ilfracombe street robbery

Barnstaple woman being questioned over mugging today (Monday).

A BARNSTAPLE woman is in custody following a street robbery in Ilfracombe today (Mon).

The 43-year-old was arrested after a 63-year-old woman from Ilfracombe was mugged in the High Street around 8.30am.

The victim was approached as she walked and had her handbag snatched and in the ensuing struggle her purse, containing a fairly substantial amount of cash, was stolen.

The suspect was arrested a short time later and is being questions by detectives.
