THE friends and family of a young man who died in October are arranging a special tribute concert to celebrate his 21st birthday.

Ben Foulds, who became wheelchair-bound after a devastating cycling accident in November 2010, was known for his love of life and determination.

A former Petroc student, he lived most of his life in Braunton and Barnstaple but moved to Daventry in November 2011 to be closer to his father, Andy.

On October 2, Ben died in his sleep from an undiagnosed heart condition, and his family will be celebrating his 21st birthday with the tribute concert on June 29.

All proceeds will be going towards the Spinal Research Charity, explained his step mum Louise Foulds.

She said: “Throughout a difficult two years of rehabilitation following the accident Ben always shone through with his wonderful sense of humour and gorgeous smile.

“He was liked and loved by everyone he met, even those who only knew him for a short time.

“Medical research was a subject Ben was most interested in, hoping that one day a cure will be found so that he would be able to walk and live a normal active life again.

“At the very least, through Ben we can help make his dream possible for others.”

Louise and Andy have already lined up a number of bands for the concert which will be held at The Factory, Petroc.

“Local artists who have kindly agreed to take part so far include Sam Dowden, Ellie Campbell, Sam Mayo & the Tuesday Syndicate, The Confused and Two Tone,” said Louise.

“But I am now looking for a bubbly lively presenter to fill in all the gaps.

“We are also looking for a few donations of prizes for a raffle to do on the night.”
