IN February last year, the North Devon Gazette asked readers to get in touch to nominate their favourite shops.

We wanted to hear about the heroes of the High Street, the shops that go the extra mile to provide top quality service with a smile.

And you have responded in style, giving us a bulging postbag of fantastic nominations to feature during the last 12 months.

So far, we’ve featured 43 shops in towns and villages all over North Devon and with your help, we want to be able to highlight even more of your local stars.

With increased competition from supermarkets and the internet, coupled with a bleak economic outlook, our local traders have never had it so tough.

But we know that there are plenty of cherished shops that are thriving on old-fashioned values of service, experience and expertise.

We are proud to say that many of these are the lifeblood of the North Devon Gazette and we want to be able to continue to celebrate the best.

Click the link in the top right hand corner of this page to find out which shop is this week’s favourite.

To make a nomination of your own, write to us at Your Favourite Shop, North Devon Gazette, Unit 3, Old Station Road, Barnstaple, EX32 8PB or email newsdesk@northdevongazette.co.uk

Just tell us why you use the shop and what makes it so special and each week we’ll feature one of your nominations in the newspaper. Please include your name, address and daytime telephone number.
