CALL FOR ROYALS: The search is on to find Exmouth’s 2012 carnival royalty.

The lucky king, queen, prince and princess will travel in style in an open-topped vintage Cowley when they appear in the town’s carnival, on Saturday, October 13. Winners will be chosen by the carnival committee after the July 31 closing date.

Entry for prince and princesses is open to youngsters aged five to 11 years old and over-12s can apply to become the king and queen.

Letters including age, address and telephone number, stating why you would like to become Exmouth’s royalty should be sent to Exmouth Carnival, Franklins Café, Bar and Restaurant, The Strand, Exmouth, Devon, EX8 1BR.

MARTIAL ARTS: Kenpo karate kickboxing classes for youngsters are run in Exmouth by former British champion Phil Cawood.

The seventh Dan black belt holds the sessions at the Cranford Club, Littleham Leisure Centre and Exmouth Leisure Centre.

TREASURE ON DISPLAY: Exmouth Museum is teaming up with children’s storyteller Clare Viner as part of the Exmouth Festival.

Storytelling sessions are being held every half an hour in the Manor Gardens children’s tent on Wednesday, June 6, from 10.30am until 3pm. In between tales, there will be a chance to look at a museum treasure. Alan Arthur, museum curator, said: “We are always very keen to be involved with the festival, which is always such a great success.”
