The district council’s new street cleaning machine, which will clean up waste in the Strand, will also be used to help clean up pigeon mess in Rolle Street.
The move comes after Dennis Hagger, of Sophie’s, said that East Devon District Council should be doing more to clean up the droppings, which he said could be hazardous to pedestrians.
Now district councillor Steve Gazzard says that more action will be taken.
He said: “I talked to environmental health [about the problem] and they said it wasn’t a health hazard, but I told them my concern was that if somebody slipped on it, EDDC could be liable if they were injured.
“Following that, environmental health got on to Street Scene and they cleaned it all up.
“I have now asked that Rolle Street can be included in the patch of the new Strand cleaning machine, when it arrives.”
