A NORTH Devon man went on trial for murder yesterday (Mon) after allegedly shooting his wife dead in September last year.

David Leeman, 59, of Parracombe, denies the murder of mother-of-four Jennie Leeman, 44, on September 18.

Leeman pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder but pleaded guilty to possessing an illegal firearm.

The trial at Exeter Crown Court continues.
