Revised plans to create 14 flats in Littleham have been recommended for refusal by Exmouth Town Council.

The plans would see the flats built at 34 Cranford Avenue, with the existing building being demolished. Councillors objected to the initial plan in February, and more than 30 objections to the plan have been submitted by the public.

The revised plans saw additional information being provided by the developer, and a lowering of the scheme’s height by one metre. Councillors were unimpressed and renewed their objections.

Cllr Bill Nash said: “The so-called reduction by one metre has been achieved by building the ground up at the front – the building would still be the same height in the air.

“The photographic assessment shows it would be dominant and overbearing to nearby properties, particularly in Colvin Close.

“It definitely doesn’t meet the Avenues’ design statement. It would be out of keeping, and parking and traffic would be a problem.”

East Devon District Council will make the final decision.
