A group of selfless women dedicated to the Girl Guiding movement in the Exmouth area have been awarded medals of long service

Long service awards were presented to a group of selfless women who have dedicated years to the Girl Guiding movement.

The volunteer guiders met at Knappe Crosse Community Centre where county commissioner Sue Bullock presented the awards to celebrate 250 years of guiding in the community.

Beth Foxon, a Budleigh Salterton ranger who recently achieved her Duke of Edinburgh silver award in adult leadership, was the first to gain such an award.

Former Exmouth divisional commissioner, Sue Blower, said today’s guiding movement continued to promote the same selfless good citizenship and community spirit expected by Lord Baden-Powell in 1914.
