Local nurses given the title of Queen’s Nurse.
THREE community nurses from the same North Devon team have won a prestigious national award.
Alison Tyrrell, Amy Lake and Isabel Tomlin have each been given the title of Queen’s Nurse.
They work in the Lynton integrated team, managed by Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.
They were given their new title by The Queen’s Nursing Institute during an awards ceremony at the Commonwealth Club in London.
The title reflects a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership in community nursing.
Alison, a clinical nurse manager, and Amy and Isabel, both community staff nurses, care for patients in their own homes in Lynton, Lynmouth and surrounding areas.
“I am very proud that three of us from such a small team have been awarded this title,” said Alison, who is based at Lynton Resource Centre.
“We run a unique and diverse nursing service in Lynton, as we work closely with our GP colleagues and the ambulance service to run a nurse-led minor injuries unit, provide practice nursing and also the district nursing service for a small population covering a large geographical area of Exmoor.
“This enables us to provide a very personal service to our patients, tailored to their needs.”
