Sailors at Lympstone are protecting their property after signing up to the police’s Boat Watch scheme.
Lympstone Sailing Club has made a proactive move against boat theft by joining forces with the police.
The sailing club last week signed up to Devon and Cornwall police’s Boat Watch scheme to curb marine-related crime.
Police Community Support Officer Sarah Trayhurn signed members up after giving a presentation. They also signed up to the force’s free community messaging service – enabling police to pass on information about crime and suspicious behaviour.
PCSO Trayhurn said the group could also register their property online at www.immobilise.com, adding: “This website enables users to log serial numbers, property details and distinguishing marks. It is checked by the police when stolen property is recovered.”
