Pupils debated whether it is wrong to create human and non-human cross-breeds at a discussion on the ethics of science at The King’s School.

The Big Questions event attracted speakers from staff at Egenis, the Centre for Genomics in Society at the University of Exeter.

Organised by the school’s head of Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, there was a short introduction on each of the topics, followed by a strong audience debate last Wednesday.

The students at the Ottery academy, and members of the public, discussed ‘Should we be treated on the basis of our genes?’, and ‘Should health-care aim to make us ‘better than well?’.
