Ilfracombe assault leaves woman in intensive care

Victim suffers broken ribs, swelling and cuts during alleged Oxford Grove street attack.

A woman was hospitalised following an assault in an Ilfracombe street that left her in intensive care.

Police said the 45-year-old suffered broken ribs, swelling and cuts to the head following the alleged attack in Oxford Grove during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

She was taken to hospital and admitted to intensive care, but left hospital this morning (Friday), police said.

Anthony Hern has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and bailed to appear before North Devon magistrates on May 25.
