Jade Emery from Ilfracombe is hoping people will vote for her in the national Star in a Bra modelling competition.

Ilfracombe student bids to win national Star in a Bra competition run by Curvy Kate.

CURVY Ilfracombe student Jade Emery has beaten more than 1,000 other hopefuls to the top 30 of a national lingerie competition.

The 21-year-old has made it to the finals of the Star in a Bra model contest to find the new face and body of “full bust” lingerie company Curvy Kate.

Now Jade needs public votes to get her to the next stage of the competition, where the top 10 girls will be treated to a makeover and professional photo shoot in London, followed by a further vote to find the winner.

The search was run through the Curvy Kate Facebook page and encouraged D plus, charismatic and naturally curvy girls to submit their favourite lingerie shots to win the international modelling contract.

Jade, a size 14 and a G cup, said she entered the competition following the end of a relationship.

“I feel that I’m an outgoing bubbly, strong minded person and can show other girls not to put up with anyone that can’t love you for you,” she said.

Curvy Kate marketing manager Hannah Houston added: “We truly believe our customers should model our lingerie as these are the girls who will be buying it.

“Our model search isn’t just a one off – it’s here to stay to prove how gorgeous the shapely figure looks in lingerie – wobbles, bumps and all.

“It’s not up to us to choose the next Curvy Kate – we want our fans to tell us the girl they want to see modelling the lingerie they’ll be wearing.”

The closing date for voting is this Tuesday (April 3). To vote for Jade, go to

  • Robert - who are you? Aside from making rude, childish and ignorant comments on stories about young women that are actually doing something with their lives; what is it that you do? I think its inspiring that Jade is doing this, amplified even more so because part of the reason for her application for this competition was because of a small minded moron like yourself. Well done Jade, and good luck x
