Sheltered accommodation tenants living in Littleham played video games as part of a bid to get to grips with technology.
East Devon District Council’s (EDDC) Housing Support Services team staged a “Going for Gold” Xbox challenge across East Devon.
The events, which had an Olympic theme, were planned to coincide with Adult Learners’ Week.
They took place at several community centres – including Clayton House in Exmouth with the grand final taking place in Sidmouth.
More than 30 tenants attended the final to either compete or support the finalists.
The ‘gold medal’ was eventually won by a Seaton resident, with the runner-up coming from Exmouth.
The Xbox challenge is an extension of the current Get Digital programme being run by EDDC.
A Government grant was received from Digital Unite back in 2010 and since then computer lessons have been run to teach the tenants in sheltered housing all about new technology and open up opportunities to “surf the net” and even Skype their grandchildren all over the world.
