Through your column, may I take this opportunity to ask the people of Exmouth to come and support our young company, next week, during our production of Footloose?

The members of Centre Stage work extremely hard throughout the year and have been rehearsing for this fantastic show since early December and have a spectacular production for an audience to come and enjoy.

Ticket sales, so far, have been very disappointing and early indications predict us to lose around £6,000. Bearing in mind the current economic problems, the company made some very large concessions on Monday and Tuesdays evenings for under 18s and under 16s, hoping that we could make this production more reasonable for families and younger people who have informed us, in the past, our productions are too expensive.

If you have never seen the 1984 or 2011 Footloose film, it is packed with well- known music, (Let’s Hear It For The Boy, I Need a Hero and Footloose, to name but three) and is a fabulous story which will have you laughing one minute and tears rolling down your face the next. There is energetic dancing throughout, which will make you want you to jump onto your feet and join in! This is a feel-good family production.

If you’ve never seen a Centre Stage production, but want a good night out, this is the time to come and try us out. And if you have seen a Centre Stage production, but are thinking ‘this isn’t my cup of tea’, can I assure you that you will love every minute of this production. Please, feel free to come and tell me if you don’t!

Centre Stage really need your support; we need you to buy some tickets so that the young cast get the reception they so deserve at each performance, and so the company can continue to perform in the way it has for the last 40 years.

If you are not planning anything next week and have a free evening or Saturday afternoon, then, please, join us, bring all your friends and enjoy Footloose at The Pavilion.

Mark Worsley

Executive Chairman, Centre Stage.
