A pair of Brixington Community Church youth workers have used pedal power to fund new loos in Africa.
An Olympic-length triathlon for toilets has been completed by a pair of Brixington Community Church youth workers.
David Slater and Sam Mutton took on the challenge, supported by the Mission His Way charity, to raise money for a new toilet block for a rural primary school in Uganda.
The pair’s pedal power has raised enough cash to build toilets and also run a number of feeding projects for the elderly in the rural African bush.
Sam said: “It was a life time ambition to do it and it all went so very well.”
David said: “I am not sure I’ll be doing that again!”
The pair thanked Exmouth Cycles for the loan of the bikes.
The cycle challenge began at Budleigh Salterton to Ottery St Mary and back, covering a 20-mile distance. They also kayaked one mile out to sea and back before running to Otterton Mill and back.
