Armed police at Barnstaple axe incident

Bailiff allegedly threatened with axe at Whiddon Valley Industrial Estate.

ARMED police were called out to Whiddon Valley in Barnstaple this afternoon (Thursday) after reports of a man threatening a bailiff with an axe.

Officers arrived at a commercial unit in Castle Park Road just after 1.30pm.

The man was arrested after giving himself up around 30 minutes later.

He is currently in custody at Barnstaple Police Station.
