Archery event for sight charity

17:27 19 November 2012

A Topsham charity is aiming to keep the Paralympic spirit alive by organising an archery event.

Devon in Sight is holding the event at the Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre on Exeter Quay on November 26, between 1pm and 3pm, and has also organised a minibus from its resource centre in Holman Way, which will leave at 12.15pm and return at 3.15pm.

The charity’s outreach and activities worker Ben Gavan said: “Everyone here was thrilled by the success of the Paralympics, which showed that people with a range of abilities can take part in sport at the highest level.

“So we decided to organise an archery afternoon for our clients and others, who have a range of visual impairments. I’m really looking forward to it; archery was one of my favourite events at both the Olympic and Paralympic games.

“The event isn’t restricted just to our clients and members, so if anyone would like to give archery a try we’d be delighted to have them on board.”

The event costs just £10 per person, including transport. To book a place, call Ben on 07943 514397 or email ben@devoninsight.org.uk by Wednesday, November 21.
