CHARITY cheques galore at Appledore

WEST Quay Fundraisers of Appledore have once again distributed thousands of pounds to charity as a result of their local fund raising events in the village.
The volunteer fund raisers, based at The Beaver riverside inn, handed out a total of £8,600 to 14 local causes at this year’s annual presentation night.
The money was raised at events ranging from an Easter fun day, autumn auction, girls’ night out, Christmas bazaar and New Year’s dip to test reading pharmaceutical leaflets, plus various donations and activities in the pub.
There was £100 for the Friendship Club; £250 each for the Bideford Bay Lifesaving Club, 3rd Bideford Brownies, Re-map and Greyhound Rescue; £500 each to the North Devon Animal Ambulance, Taw and Torridge Caring for a Memory Café, Headway, Appledore RNLI and Voice-Works; £1,000 each to St.Mary’s Church Hall and North Devon Cancer Care Trust; and £1,500 each to the North Devon Hospice and the Children’s Hospice South West.
