SIGN CONCERN: Otterton villagers are concerned that county highways chiefs are overlooking highways safety issues in the village.
At the last parish council meeting, a worried resident, Ray Dowling, said that the Maunders Hill school sign needed replacing and the granite post near White Lodge was missing – as was the Stop sign in Lea Road. He added that there were no road markings at end of Frogmore Road.
Mike Bishop, the highways chief for the area, has been invited to tour the village.

LETHABY HOUSE: The Abbeyfield Society is holding an open evening on Monday, June 25, at Lethaby House, 3 Moor Lane, Budleigh Salterton, from 6pm to 7.30pm.
The society provides sheltered supported housing for the elderly.

WINDOWS: Applications have been made for new windows on two Budleigh Salterton properties: Flat 2, 22 West Hill, replacement windows on side and rear elevations; 26 Vision Hill Road, installation of two roof windows.
The plans will be determined by district planners.

CRIME: There were four crimes committed during May in Otterton.
A female was arrested and charged for causing harassment, alarm or distress on May 19. A subsequent assault on a police officer was linked to this case.
A male was arrested for affray and on June 4 at Ladram Bay Holiday Park, a male was arrested for actual bodily harm.
During this period there were also 11 calls to the police communication centre in regards to various incidents.

OTTERTON SHOP: There has been an inaugural meeting of the Village Shop Committee under Mrs Viv Price.
It follows a town vote where most villagers supported the idea for a shop in the village.

CHURCH FETE: St Peter’s Church Fete is being held on Saturday, July 14.
Gates will be open from 11am and lunches to be served in the Peter Hall.

WARDEN NEEDED: Clinton Devon Estates has launched a short web video in its search for a Nature Conservation Manager who will be responsible for the future management of the East Devon Pebblebed Heaths.
The post has become available as the current manager Bungy Williams MBE prepares to retire later this year.

FAIR CANCELLED: The Drake’s School craft fair, planned for June 30, has been cancelled. In order to meet their fundraising target for the music room, a table top sale on the same day will take place from 10am in the Public Hall, Budleigh Salterton.
