A driver was left red faced in Exmouth after their 4x4 got stuck in the mud off Shelly Beach.
Efforts to free the stricken vehicle took around an hour, with the coastguard and a tractor chipping in to help.
Eyewitness Les Bennett, who took this photo, said: “When we arrived we could see the 4x4 stuck in the mud with a boat on a trailer.
“They unhitched the boat and tried to drive the 4x4 out, but couldn’t, so someone came along with a tractor.
“After breaking two or three ropes they eventually got it out.”
The Coastguard said they had come across the 4x4 while attending another incident, and a local boatyard helped recover the vehicle.
