It is with great interest, that I have been following the story regarding "Strategic Land Partnerships" proposals for a "massive" housing development in the "Courtlands" area of Lympstone. As I am aware, these proposals have not been lodged as an actual application yet, so the full impact of the scheme is currently a matter for conjecture. However, it would seem to me, that a development of this size, in this area and within Lympstone Parish boundaries, would be totally out of keeping with the Village "Design Statement" and an unwelcome burden to the already overstretched sewer system, the road infrastructure and the local primary school.
We already have, a massively congested road, IE: the A376, onto which, presuming an average 2 cars per household, we would be pushing 400 extra cars. We have a village primary school, with as far as I am aware only a small number of spaces, which could in no way cope with an influx of even 50 children (presuming that 25% of the properties are inhabited by families with school age children), allied to a Comprehensive school in Exmouth, which has just had its expansion plans into the Rolle Campus crushed by the local Council, thus leaving it short of extra pupil space.
The proposed site, is a "greenfield site", on the Lympstone side of Courtlands cross, so the extra water run off, from new housing, roads and infrastructure would directly affect the brook in the valley below, possibly causing extra run off and surface flooding, something all too fresh in peoples minds at present with the state of flooding in many towns in the UK. The road access at Courtlands Cross, is far too narrow, to cope with an influx of ingoing and outgoing transport at rush hour times of the day, so therefore it is obvious that some new "junction" would need to be built, onto the A376, thus causing more delays at rush hour.
For anyone interested in the activities of the developer, either Google "Strategic Land Partnerships", or e mail me and I will send you some very interesting links to other, developments this company is involved in, many of them apparently not popular with local residents, try googling "Oldland Common" which is near Bristol for more info....I look forward to more interesting developments in this matter.... It is criminal to steal a purse, daring to steal a fortune, a mark of greatness to steal a crown. The blame diminishes as the guilt increases
There shouldn't be another brick laid for increased housing within Exmouth/Lympstone or near areas untill there is some infrastructure put inplace first. just where are all these people going to get a GP, hospital care, a school place for children, go shopping (lets not forget the Asda fiasco), get to and from Exeter on the already woefully inadequate road sytem. and God forbid that they should want to do anyting in their leisure time! or use what passes for a library so lets not put the cart before the horse and try to do at least something right and in the right order for once
