Over the last few years, I have posted, (perhaps too numerously), written letters (ditto) and generally expressed an opinion, whether right or wrong, on a vast plethora of subjects.
At times Archant have come under fire, for their alleged editorial policy, censorship and a host of other things. But I have always found them to be fair in any editing and have no complaints about any post or letter that has not been printed.
I feel of late however, that this site, amongst many UK wide, is a small piece of a "giant jigsaw". A jigsaw that allows expression and debate at a local level to flourish and grow. However, local level is all it ever allows. We are all able to access the national media, even Archant itself, has a huge spread over the Uk, of newspapers that it owns and a "worldly diverse" client base.
Thus my suggestion to Archant, is this, add to your local forums a UK wide discussion area, promote discourse between people in all your areas of coverage, promote discussion in national topics and thus promote your Brand, your image and your ability to "spread the news"
Just a thought, but all of us who post, I am sure do not just have "small town small mentality" and would love to engage other "local people" in debate on national issues.
I for one, would be interested to here the feelings of Archant and any forum users on this subject.... It is criminal to steal a purse, daring to steal a fortune, a mark of greatness to steal a crown. The blame diminishes as the guilt increases
