CAR BOOT sales have raised more than £100 for Sidmouth's Tango Juvenile Carnival Club to help pay for costumes for this year's event. Now the club is stepping up its fund-raising drive by putting out another appeal for good bric-a-brac, records, CDs, books and other items to sell on its car boot sale table. The club plans to attend many more boot sales between now and August to boost its coffers. Carnival Club Captain Stuart Hughes is also contributing to club funds by offering his skills as a DJ of disco and party music with his Stuart Hughes Disco Show. See www.stuart-hughes.co.uk for more details. The club is busy organising a disco and barbecue at Thorn Park golf driving range, where it houses its float, on Saturday, August 9, between 7.30pm and midnight. Tickets are £10, including the first burger, will be limited to 400 and available at the beginning of May. Mr Hughes said: "We are pulling out all the stops this year to raise the necessary funds to make sure that this year's float is a winner. "We are also looking for some help from any electricians and engineers who can spare a few hours to help us out." If you have any car boot items, want a disco, or are an electrician or engineer with help to offer, contact Mr Hughes on (01395) 578414 or mobile 07725 708891.
