Midweek Herald editor Belinda Bennett has always longed for a garden pond. Inspired by childhood memories of a neighbour's pond in a back garden in Whitebridges, Honiton, she has since enjoyed happy times observing aquatic life in a pond of near lake proportions at the home of a friend's parents in rural Dorset. All is going well

I have been topping up my pond, when necessary.

The fish have really grown and seem active and happy.

I haven't seen the large frog again. However, I've noticed a number of baby frogs hopping around my garden.

I'm hoping my fish will breed next spring.
